Recently I spent two weeks visiting friends in San Francisco.

It was an experience that stirred up reflections on many levels, from the personal to the social to the spatial, some of which will certainly find their way onto here in time.

Meanwhile, here is a selection of landscape pictures taken on the trip, all of which I feel evoke…something. I couldn’t quite describe what. Let’s call it a visual essay on the elements that spoke to me as I wandered the unfamiliar urban environment: scenes, some big, some little, that stood out as emblematic of the genius loci - the spirit of that particular place.
